The Lincoln Corridor provides an important connection between downtown Fort Collins, the Poudre Trail, and the east Fort Collins. As a catalyst, the corridor had unrealized potential for new development. The purpose of the plan was to provide a community supported vision for the corridor and strategies to implement that vision. The plan provides detailed alternatives for the corridor, including “Broad Boulevard”, “Modest Median” and “Skinny Street”, each characterized by a unique and specialized approach to developing the corridor, addressing mobility, safety and the experience of all users, including bicyclists, pedestrians, transit users and motorists.
The preferred plan provides streetscape improvement recommendations, access points, turn lane and on street parking recommendations, transit stops, crosswalks, lighting and planting recommendations.
The plan was effective, as today the corridor has been re-constructed completely, with new and emerging uses including new breweries, small businesses, and a new Woodward Governor campus.
